Our technical development and the development of our exploration licenses go hand in hand. We are currently working on a number of projects in the EMEA region.

HOREX® pilot

What is the objective of HOREX®?

The main objective of the HOREX® scientific pilot is to image the subsoil to understand how a natural hydrogen system functions as a whole without impacting the environment or the nearby population.

What technologies are used?

HOREX® relies on passive geophysics methods combining seismic and non-seismic data. This non-invasive method does not cause detectable damage to the local environment.

When will HOREX® take place?

This project is planned for spring 2025.

Where will HOREX® take place?

HOREX® will take place in the Hautes-Pyrenees straddling the communities of communes of Haute-Bigorre, the Lannemezan plateau, Neste Barousse and Aure Louron. This region is set to become the leading location for the birth of this energy revolution.

Hydrogeco

What is the objective of Hydrogeco?

Hydrogeco (Hydrogène géologique du Comminges) is dedicated to studying the natural hydrogen potential of the Occitan Pyrenees. The project aims to characterize and quantify the entire system from source rock generation up to the geological reservoir.

What technologies are used?

Beyond exploration activities, Hydrogeco serves as a pilot site for the deployment and validation of Mantle8’s proprietary technologies: GeoLogix®, Horex®, and APoGeh®.

When will Hydrogeco take place?

Hydrogeco is carried out under the Exclusive Exploration Permit (PER) of Comminges, granted to Mantle8 in April 2026.

This permit, reviewed by the French administration and the local environmental authority, authorizes exploration activities for a period of five years, renewable up to twice.

Where will Hydrogeco take place?

The Hydrogeco exploration area is located in the Comminges region, a predominantly rural territory at the foothills of the Pyrenees.

The project covers more than 739 km² across the Hautes-Pyrénées (65) and HauteGaronne (31) departments, encompassing 109 municipalities within seven intermunicipal communities.

Aralar

What is the objective of Aralar?

Aralar is Mantle8’s natural hydrogen exploration project in the Spanish Pyrenees. The project aims to characterise the local geological system and assess the area’s potential for natural hydrogen generation and accumulation.

The project builds on Mantle8’s extensive knowledge of Pyrenean geology, particularly through its exploration activities on the French side of the mountain range.

What technologies are used?

Mantle8 will conduct non-invasive exploration studies using its proprietary technologies: GeoLogix® for geological modelling, HOREX® for 4D subsurface imaging and APoGeH® for hydrogen system assessment.

When will Aralar take place?

Aralar is being carried out under the
Aralar I and Aralar II exploration permits, granted to Mantle8 on 5 June 2026 by Spain’s Dirección General de Política Energética y Minas.

These permits authorise non-invasive studies focused on assessing the natural hydrogen and helium potential of the area.

Where will Aralar take place?

The Aralar exploration area is located on the southern flank of the Spanish Pyrenees, in a geological setting similar to that studied by Mantle8 through its Comminges permit on the French side.

The Aralar I and Aralar II permits cover approximately 960 km² across Navarre and the Basque Country. The region also benefits from established infrastructure and a strong industrial presence.
